Organic Cocktail Recipes for Spring 2010 Presented by Vodka 14
Now that winter snows are melting here in Colorado and the first buds of spring have emerged, Vodka 14’s in-house mixologist Mitch Baris is pleased to present three new cocktails for the season. Each features light, fresh, crisp spring flavors, and of course Vodka 14, craft-distilled from the finest organic ingredients to pair effortlessly with even the most delicate flavors.
Spring Mint Lemonade: This crisp and slightly tart cocktail forgoes sugar and artificial sweeteners, leaving a fresh taste perfect for the first evenings outside on the porch: in a lowball glass, muddle two ounces of Vodka 14 and one or two large leaves of fresh garden mint. Add two ounces of soda water and the juice of half of a Meyer lemon (a naturally sweet variety of the fruit). Stir thoroughly and fill to the rim with ice. Garnish with a full wheel slice of Meyer lemon on the rim and a sprig of fresh mint.
Grapes of Spring: This simple cooler offers an effervescent natural sweetness that makes it perfect for springtime entertaining. Pour three ounces Vodka 14, 1.5 ounces organic white grape juice, and 1.5 ounces of sparkling water over ice in a highball glass. Stir. Garnish with a skewer of whole organic green grapes and a sprig of fresh mint. Bring on spring.
Amelia Earhart: The Amelia is our take on two classics, a sumptuous cocktail that proudly straddles the line between the historic Aviation and the ever-chic Cosmopolitan. To create it, shake three ounces Vodka 14, two ounces organic cranberry juice, one ounce Rothman & Winter Crème De Violette and a generous squeeze of fresh organic lime over ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a wheel of lime.
